Equine centres

    Horses have occupied an important role in the Baza area for many centuries.  The importance to local farmers¸ farm families and showmen alike is apparent even today. Each year in September¸ Baza proudly host its national horse show.  The best horses in the nation can be seen during this week-long event. 

    Even today¸ is some villages and rural areas¸ we can find mules and burros still playing an active role in the everyday life of some families.  Although it is not well known¸ the Spanish burro is in danger of possible extinction due to the modernisation of farming practises. At Rusticom Andaluc?a we are interested in the protection of this friendly animal.  During some of our visits we have the possibility of seeing some of these quickly disappearing animals that have long been a part of Andalucian rural life. 

    If you are a horse owner¸ experienced rider or just interested in learning to ride¸ there is an Equine School and Stables in Baza.  Courses and outings are available for all ages.  The facility has stables¸ an indoor arena and outdoor arena.  Guided routes are also available through the Sierra de Baza and local area.
