Medical care in Andalucia is structured beginning with primary care through general practice
doctors in your local Health Centre. Health Centres are located in all villages
and towns throughout the area. Rural hamlets will normally receive visits from
doctors on certain days throughout the week.
For specialist care and doctors¸ the General Hospital in Baza offers health care
for the entire zone including southern Jaen and northern Almeria. Baza's
hospital has 166 beds and serves a total population of 111.000 persons. Plans
are in place for a larger General Hospital in Guadix.
In special cases¸ patients with greater treatment needs¸ can be sent to
Specialist Medical Centres in Granada.
Emergency services are available at your local Medical Centre during their
opening hours. At night¸ emergency care is available at the hospitals in either
Baza or Guadix. All emergency services in Spain can be reached by dialling 112.
Private health clinics are available in both Baza and Guadix. Private hospitals
are available in Granada.
